Colombia is a hot spot for eco-tourism with ten percent of all world species being found within the countries borders and its thought that much is left still to discover.

Colombia’s Amazon basin is yet to succumb to deforesting and abuse by mankind. Head to Leticia, a city in the middle of the Amazonas, and then venture into the dense vegetation or take a boat down the river where the buzz of nature will be overwhelming.

Have you considered the glorious Tayrona National Park, in the north of Colombia on the Caribbean coast? The park is home to all sorts of endemic jungle species not found anywhere else on earth.

Perhaps you’re looking for a real off the beaten track experience, then head to the province of La Guajira and stay in the remote Flamenco Sanctuary for a completely unique birding experience.
