Manizales is a pleasantly temperate midsized university town, with green mountain scenery on all sides. The town is a fine example of normal modern day Colombian life and acts as gateway to Parque Nacional Natural Los Nevados and the surrounding coffee farms (fincas).

Manizales is built on a ridgeline with the entire city stretching along one main thoroughfare with the houses and businesses sloping off from either side. It has a relaxed, welcoming and student atmosphere with plenty of cafés, bars and eateries to choose from.

You can choose to stay in  Manizales, in the centre of town near to the action or out in the countryside in a traditional but luxury hacienda.
